Developer log 9: Polish week 1


This week was the first week of polish, we didn't add any new features, rather we worked on or fixed the ones we already have.

Screen effects

We added some screen effects to give the player some more feedback. The first you'll see is when you spawn in.

There are also several effects for each of the powerups you pick up.

When you get hit or are on low health you'll notice some screen effects as wel.



VFX color

The player color corresponds with the latest powerup he picked up. This does not only look very cool but also lets the player now what he picked up.


Animations

A lot of animations were improved or redone. below is the list of the animations that are changed.

 

 

PostProcessing issue

We fixed the PostProcessing issue we had with our player and foreground. When the player did not have anything behind him he would blur in to the background.

Menu art

All the menus were given a nice overlay to make it feel less boring.


Level improvements

The caves were given a make over. There are cool rocks hanging on the ceiling and some nice particle effects to really make it feel like a dark mystic cave.


We also tried to make the world feel more dynamic by adding wind to foliage and moving waves to water.
